Science as the Solution

Our OBJECTIVE

314 Action is dedicated to recruiting and electing STEM leaders and using science-focused messaging to educate voters. During the 2020 general, they partnered with FOGLAMP to mobilize voters in swing states. 

OUR APPROACH

FOGLAMP designed a program and messaging that set the stakes of the election around climate change and the pandemic, presenting science leaders as the clear solution.

The program synthesized this messaging into video and display ads targeting infrequent voters in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio and Minnesota. 

Our general election program focused on turning out Democratic-leaning voters who cast a ballot in the 2018 midterm election but not the 2016 presidential election. This meant both effectively reaching a unique universe of Democrats, and doing so in an unprecedented climate of voter misinformation.

OUR RESULTS

We knew that ensuring these voters turned out was critical to winning these swing states — and that the creative needed to both mobilize and put trust at the forefront.

A review of individual voter data shows that 74.8% of our targeted voters cast their ballot in the 2020 presidential election.
